Starforce takes revenge on Galactic Civilizations II
The anti-copy software Starforce is a piece of code which isn't quite loved by a lot of PC-gamers. Not only are there rumours about problems with dvd-players, but also the easy of use is subpar.
Now an employee of the Starforce company, which want to prevent illegal copying of games, has given a link to an illegal torrent-download of Galactic Civilizations II. Why? Just op prove his 'point': "Right now several thousands of people are downloading the pirated version only from that web-site. Is it good for the sales? Unlikely."
The reason for this heavy act of negative PR is the fact that Stardock, the creators of GalCivII, have recently stated multiple times that their game sells very good, even WITHOUT any copy-protection. They have another strategy:
The Starforce-employee clearly didn't like that statement and just posted a warez-link of Stardock's game (which is now removed apparently, but you can check the link for visual proof). Stardock themselves have taken action so that the torrent doesn't exist on the warez-site anymore. They have also put out a statement which makes things a lot more clear.
In other related Galactic Civilizations II news: it appears the game is finally coming to the European mainland too now. It's already out in the UK for a week or so but it should be in stores everywhere else in Europe this week.

"Our primary weapon to fight piracy is through rewarding customers through convenient, frequent, free updates. If you make it easy for users to buy and make full use of your product or service legitimately then we believe that you'll gain more users from that convenience than you'll lose from piracy."
