John Woo, the famous action movie director, hasn't given up yet on making a movie based on Stranglehold. The game was originally developed by Woo along with Midway and was the sequel to his well-known bullet ballet classic Hard Boiled.

In an interview with Cinematical about his newest film, Red Cliff (amongst other things), the possible transfer of Stranglehold back to the big screen came up. The man had a short but clear answer:
"We are going to make that into a movie"
When the interviewer asked whether we would be seeing a sequel to the game Woo also answered positive but due to lack of time it will take a while before we'll hear anything further."I don't have that much time, even though I want to make one again,"
"But for the moment, I also am producing two movies. One is shooting in Taiwan. One is shooting in Shanghai. So I am quite busy these days."
Stranglehold wasn't a bad game, but some better overall quality would have helped a lot to make it better. Hopefully the man gets a second chance in the games industry as we really don't mind his movies at all!"But for the moment, I also am producing two movies. One is shooting in Taiwan. One is shooting in Shanghai. So I am quite busy these days."
