THQ axes a lot, shareholders not impressed
THQ has announced their plans for the coming time and it doesn't look too bright. The company has decided to axe several games, series and even a complete studio.
The good news (for those that love the series): WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 and MX vs. ATV Untamed apparently have sold better than expected and are to remain untouched.
The bad news: Stuntman: Ignition, Ratatouille, Juiced: Hot Import Nights and Conan apparently didn't do so well and you shouldn't expect any sequels for those anytime soon anymore.
More bad news: Destroy All Humans!: Big Willy Unleashed will become Wii-exclusive as the PS2 version has been axed and so is the PS3 version of Frontlines: Fuel of War. Also two yet unnamed projects for Xbox 360 and PS3 will no longer be under development.
And the bad continues: THQ's Concrete Games studio has been disbanded with immediate effect. They apparently were working on one of the two unnamed projects that will never see the light.
Something good?: Eurogamer is reporting that Juice Games (acquired by THQ in March 2006 and creators of the Juiced titles) is working on two completely new projects
According to Next-gen, analysts do remain positive towards THQ though:

"We are working on two very fresh and exciting projects that I can't discuss, but the whole office is buzzing with the work we've done here recently."
While you might think that the disbanding of a studio and axing several series might be something shareholders would like (after all, THQ suggests these moves will save them around $27 million) the company's shares dropped no less than 30% today.According to Next-gen, analysts do remain positive towards THQ though:
Lazard Capital Markets’ Colin Sebastian said in an investor note, “F2009 outlook appears intact with improving product lineup. We note that THQ is taking more aggressive steps to pare its product portfolio of lower quality and underperforming franchises, and to focus on proven franchises and titles with better potential.”
