Tabula Rasa is delayed

For the people who were looking forward to this futuristic MMORPG, don't be alarmed since the delay is only 2 weeks. Starr Long, de 2nd big person of Destination Games an co-inventor of Ultima Online explained their reasons for this move on the official Tabula Rasa website.

To this end we are moving our Pre-Order headstart date to 10/30/07 and our commercial service start date to 11/2/07. This short but critical amount of time will give us time to address several issues including stability and balance as well as allowing our players to test the continent of Ligo (L38+) and our major changes to crafting for a few weeks rather than a few days. Our entire development staff feels this extra time is needed as does our beta community. We feel confident that this extra time will make a difference on launch day.

So the reason is that they want to test their newest addition a bit longer and make sure the people that level up fast got some decent content to start with. The new release date is October 30 for the pre-order and November 2 for the normal buyers.

Anyone play the beta yet? Games like this always interest me but they always end up sucking.

So I decided to finally use my Tabula Rasa beta key and played the game for about 2-3 hours. From what I've played so far it seems like a decent game, but it does fall short of my expectations. It was pretty confusing at first given there are no tutorials for anything except the very basic movements.

Taking the extra time to make the final product more complete was definitely the right move. Its not that the game is incomplete but it did need polishing. I've only gotten to level 6 so far and havn't seen any opportunity for pvp but I think I'm going to put in a few more hours to try and get a better feel for it.
