In November last year we reported of a beta for the turnbased(!) steampunk-themed mmog Tactica Online, made by Australian company Imaginary Numbers. The concept sounded pretty cool back then and some folks made it into the beta but the last official site update date back from March this year, so there have been some concerns.

Following some investigations from a couple of fans on the official Tactica Online boards, it seems now that the game has been cancelled. Apparently it was already brought down in April this year according to a cv from one of the former developers of the game.

There hasn't been an official word out yet but the evidence seems clear enough. Probably once more a definite proof that the mmog-scene is quite harsh and that unfamiliar themes/concepts won't likely attract enough funds.
