Take Two frustrated by second hand sales

Take 2 has to watch in disgust how second hand sales are gaining more ground every year. Especially through gamestores like Gamestop, which are promoting it heavily and are making large amounts of profit on it, profit that Take Two is not receiving.

To counter this, they will try and expand the life expectancy of their games by adding new content and extended multiplayer options for their future releases.

"GameStop continues to aggressively push their used game business, which is having a meaningful negative impact on sales of new games," noted analyst Doug Creutz, following a meeting with Take-Two CEO Ben Feder this week.

"Management is frustrated with this trend and is examining ways to ameliorate the problem, which includes strategies around online play and downloadable content which extend the lifespan of AAA titles."

Extra content is nice, but if they are going to charge people extra money for it, i don't think it will have much effect :)
