Take Two taking losses, DNF out by the end of the year?
Take Two has made a 50.2 million dollar loss in the second quarter of this year. The company still seems stable though and at last, some news about one of their long-awaited high-profile titles has emerged.
It seems that 3D Realms is being 'encouraged' to finish their own Duke Nukem Forever before the end of this year:
If 3D Realms manages to finish the PC-version up by December 31, 2006, then they'll get their hands on $500.000, according to financial notes.
Of course, 3D Realms itself doesn't seem to bother with these reports as they never do. "When it's done" remains their mantra. According to the 10-Q, March saw Take-Two and 3D Realms renegotiate the original contract for Duke Nukem Forever, which began back in 1997. Under the original deal, 3D Realms was to receive some $6 million from Take-Two to develop the title. Now, the Texas-based developer will receive only $4,250 for the oft-delayed game, when it is completed.
