In an interview, taken at E3, Ben Feder, chief executive of Take-Two, has admitted that Bioshock 2 wasn't exactly a huge success like the company had hoped it to be:
Part 2 went multiplatform to get a wider audience and added multiplayer. So what's the conclusion? A great singleplayer PC game can do better than a mediocre multiplatform title with multiplayer added!
What have we (hopefully) learnt from this experience? We need more great PC games!
The franchise is viable and has a lasting impact on consumers. It was ultimately successful, but not hugely successful.
The original Bioshock was a huge hit on PC eventhough solely a singleplayer game. It had atmosphere and memorable gameplay. Part 2 went multiplatform to get a wider audience and added multiplayer. So what's the conclusion? A great singleplayer PC game can do better than a mediocre multiplatform title with multiplayer added!
