Take2 spent $11,1 million to block EA takeover
Although Take-Two reported a record $1,5 billion in annual revenues and $97 million in annual profit, the company saw its shares drop due to less than expected quarterly earnings. And to be honest, when all the numbers are laid out this is hardly a surprising fact.
Apparently, Take2 spent no less than $11,1 million to stop Electronic Arts from taking over and although EA dropping out also resulted in shares going down the drain again, T2's CEO Strauss Zelnick found it opportune to get paid quite a lot.
First off, Zelnick's annual sallary is $1 million but his company, ZelnickMedia, got paid $2.5 million as well for "management fees" next to a restricted stock grant of 600,000 shares. Next to that, ZelnickMedia will receive an extra $2.5 million, and a 900,000-share, four-year vested stock grant, if Take2 manages to reach certain performance requirements.
If you ask me, this guy is getting paid A LOT.
