Takeover for SEGA?
Posted on Wednesday, 13 February 2008 by Devilke, source: Seeking Alpha
After making a loss of 185 million Euros, analyst Bruce Everiss believes the company is a very wanted object to take over.
SEGA might not be comparable to what it used to be back in the days, but the company is still a big fish with a lot of potential. On one hand, you have many franchises (think Sonic, Phantasy Star, Jet Set Radio, NiGHTs, Total War, Football Manager etc.), on the other SEGA is very present on the Japanese market. According to Everiss, these two factors combined with a decent management can mean a lot of money.
Who would be the possible candidates? Not the first choice of the fans, but very possible is EA. Microsoft also has the means and could definitely use SEGA. Then again, the more creative SEGA games didn't get very good sales figures on the Xboxes.
The most ideal solution, but also the most improbable, is that Nintendo would take over SEGA. The Big N has enough money and has the best qualifications to make a good Sonic 3D. Only spoilsport, Nintendo is very conservative if it comes to buying other game companies...
