It's seems like every major publisher wants to turn a classic movie into a video game nowadays. EA is coming with The Godfather, Vivendi with Scarface, and Majesco has acquired to rights to publish a game based on the 1976 classic Taxi Driver, directed by Martin Scorsese, starring Robert de Niro.

Developer Papaya Studios has released a press notice, revealing the first details of the game. You will play as the main character of the movie, Travis Bickle. He still wants to see New York City cleansed of all the scum, and he takes matters into his own hands. For the player, this results in both driving and on foot combat missions.

Taxi Driver will be a third person shooter, featuring lots of guns, the ability to dual wield, finishing moves to perform on enemies and typical 70's music.
