The Elder Scrolls goes mmorpg

A couple of days ago you could read that Zenimax the company that owns Bethesda Softworks registered a new domain name on the internet. This new name was elderscrollsonline.com and almost immediately after the registration rumors started to pop up of an Elder Scrolls mmorpg in development. Pete Hines now officialy confirmed the development of an The Elder Scrolls mmorpg. in which period it will be played is not known.

“This investment allows Bethesda to continue to grow and pursue our previously announced initiatives. That includes work now going on with our new MMO group (ZeniMax Online Studios), as well as the titles that we are working on.”

This will spell the end of The Elder Scrolls.

That game was only amazing because of the singleplayer! What sort of atmosphere is there going to be when you get 14 year olds talking crap, and more than that, you're not going to be the Guildmaster of your chosen guild, or the hero of Cyrodiil, or the evil vampire count of a modded castle. And so that reminds me, the mods are all going to go too!

Elder Scrolls was great as single player, but now with an MMO on the horizon, the SP will be thrown out the window and a sub-par WoW clone will be born.

What if its better than WoW? Personally... I'm really hoping for a mmo thats different, without that level grind thats always just boring. WoW got annoying after lvl 25 for me.

I'm not even sure if its possible for an mmo do be any different since they're all the bloody same. Still, can always hope that this will be a new and great thing.

As for spelling the end of single player, I don't think so. There will perhaps be a greater delay for the next epic ElderScrolls story; but even with the mmo, I can't see them stop the amazing single player series.

hahha Anonymous GD guy/gal who is POed!.. get a grip! There is lots of money for the company to be made to continue both projects and grow. Hope it has EQII/GW beautiful graphics with WoW/GW playability and Guild Wars faster leveling and solo ability on quests and missions, where you can determine your growth direction.. Thats not to say I want a low level cap!
