The Old Republic to give WoW a beating?
According to a recent market study, Bioware's Star Wars: The Old Republic will give the world's biggest MMO quite a downturn in players.
Analyst company Lazard Capital Markets has ran a survey amongst 381 online customers of Blizzard's MMO and found that 50% of them are planning to buy Electronic Arts' Star Wars: The Old Republic. Afterwards, they calculated the data and came up with the idea that this could result in WoW losing between 900.000 and 1.6 million players after the release of EA's MMO.
This isn't the first time Blizzard's World of Warcraft is getting heat from the competition, but they've managed to stay on top nonetheless. Expectation is also that the upcoming expansion, Mists of Pandaria, could get a ton of people to resubscribe as well.
To keep up the pressure, Bioware has released a 20 minute character creation trailer for their upcoming MMO and you can check it out below:
