The Old Republic to last 10 years

Posted on Wednesday, 8 December 2010 by Speed, source: Eurogamer
Speaking at the UBS Annual Media and Communications Conference in New York, Electronic Arts CFO Eric Brown said that they're hoping Bioware's MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic will last ten years:
"Our assumptions for break-even and profitability are not seven digit subscribers. We think we can run and operate a very successful and profitable MMO at different levels."

"The key thing here is to really perfect the product. We're shooting for an extremely high quality game experience. We view this as a 10 year opportunity."
For reference, none of the current big MMOs have yet reached 10 years. EVE Online is eight, World of Warcraft seven, and Lord of the Rings Online only four years old.

Um, hello? Everquest released in 1999, consists of 17 expansions, and is still continuing to develop.
