So far, Nintendo has always been very silent about the details of their Wii and Wii-mote. Only on big events, such as E3, they have released some information, after which it became silent once more. But recently, they have made a documentation for developers, which reveals some more information about the Wii-mote.

The Wii-mote will get power from 2 AA alkaline batteries, so the controller will work long enough. If the precision aim functionality is enabled, it would last for 30 hours. If you would only use the accelerometer functionality, it is possible to extend this to 60 hours. The controller will communicate with the console, using the Bluetooth technology in a 2.4GHz band. Moreover, it seems that there is 6KB non-volatile memory present on every controller. Although is not yet very clear for what purpose this is integrated in the Wii-mote. On recent pictures of the Wii, you could see a button to find every present controller and synchronize with them (the SYNCHRO button). To obtain a wireless ID for a controller, it would be possible (according this documentation) to do the same by pressing the 1 and 2 button on the Wii-mote.Every button is digital. So this includes the D-pad, A, B, 1, 2, -, +, power and the synchro button. C and Z on the nunchuk are also digital. The receiver itself is about 20 centimetre long and has a sensor on both ends. The LEDs on every controller can show which controller has communication with the console. But it is also used to show the battery status in that controller. If four LEDs flash and startup, there the remaining power is in between 100% and 75%, three LEDs means between 75% and 50%, …According to the documentation, it is possible that there sometimes could be interference with fluorescent light, halogen lamps, plastic, mirrors, … To avoid this, the pointer must identify the sensor bar and mark its two coordinates.
It is expected that Nintendo will wait until September to announce the final release date and price.
