Things not going great for Tecmo
First Dead or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki announced that he was leaving and sueing Tecmo and now comes word of another lawsuit, this time from Hiroaki Ozawa and co-plaintiff Tatsuki Tsunoda, two other key Team Ninja members. Things are certainly not looking sunny at Tecmo.
Tecmo has since responded saying that there are several inaccuracies in the reporting about the lawsuit but the only thing that seems to be mildly incorrect is that there aren't 300 suitors. This is indeed correct as there are only two (not counting Itagaki) but they do represent 300 employees. For the rest it looks like there's plenty of proof to back the suitors which means Tecmo's in for a rough ride.
Ozawa and Tsunoda both filed their suit this past Monday. According to the suit, the workers were illegally placed on a "flexible hours" work scheme where overtime was not paid. Because of this dubious employment structure, overtime for the employees exceeded over 100 hours per month in unpaid overtime. Along with the lawsuit, they provided hard evidence to prove that Tecmo's actions were unethical and illegal
Ozawa is an official representative of the labor union and represents over 300 employees. He's stated that if Tecmo doesn't immediately respond to the issues he's filed against, more class action lawsuits will follow which may cost Tecmo a whole lotta bucks and may even bring down the company's current top management.Tecmo has since responded saying that there are several inaccuracies in the reporting about the lawsuit but the only thing that seems to be mildly incorrect is that there aren't 300 suitors.
