Tiberian Twilight "non-DRM" causes issues

We said there would be issues and guess what: there are!
Electronic Arts may seem surprised, but we certainly are not!

Remember when EA last week stated that Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight wouldn't have any DRM, but only would require a permanent internet connection? Well, it seems that "non-DRM" is not as flawless as the publisher had hoped for.

The EA forums are being spammed with users reporting problems with Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight caused by the "permanent internet connection" requirement.
The connection error occurs after loading a mission, I see the title of the mission and a messeange pops up, the connection is lost and the game can therefore not save my progress in the current mission. Very irritating, when I buy a product, I expect it to work
Also issues with firewalls have been reported as well as people having problems even getting the game installed and loading a first patch (which apparently doesn't download all too well).

EA community manager EA Apoc tweeted that the game has been patched for Russian/French gamers but I doubt the rest of the world will be happy with that.

I have one word for stuff like this: INCOMPETENCE!

EA had issues with their Bad Company 2 servers, Ubisoft had issues with their "permanent internet connection" DRM for Assassin's Creed 2 and Silent Hunter 5, and now this... don't these people LEARN? Didn't just about everyone in the gaming press state that this kind of "protection scheme" is a bad move?

EA: you're doing one hell of a great job in killing PC Gaming! I'll remember this the next time some developer or publisher starts complaining about piracy...
