US Air Force buys 300 Playstation 3 consoles
That the Playstation 3 can be used for more things then gaming has already been proven by several scientists. Because of its Cell CPU, it has a processor strenght that runs ahead of all it competitors, which makes it a very attractive buy for researchers who have a limted budget. The console has already been used for the research of vaccins for viruses and diseases.
Now also the United States Air Force is interested in Sony's new console. They need its special processor for a secret project in one of their army bases. The American Army might have the largest budget of the world, that still doesn't stop them from getting the cheapest solution for their problem.

The Air Force Research Laboratory is conducting a technology assessment of certain cell processors. The processors in the Sony PlayStation 3 are the only brand on the market that utilizes the specific cell processor characteristics needed for this program at an acceptable cost.
Offerors shall provide at least the same warranty terms, including offers of extended warranties, offered to the general public in customary commercial practice.
