US customs harass E3 colleagues
Some very disturbing news for all peaceful people and for those of you out there who hope to attend E3 in the near future.
We all know about the terrible things that have happened in New York, now nearly two years ago. Most of the sane world also recognises the atrocities that have happened in the aftermath, primarily caused by the US-led 'coallition forces'.
The US has enough reasons to be scared, but how they handle this fear is just insane.
Six french colleague journalists were detained on arrival at the Los Angeles airport, severely harassed without any reason and then sent back to France.
Or were we just lucky to have Belgian passports ? Were the 'true American patriots' of Customs and Immigration taking a bit of revenge on French journalists for their critical opinion on the US foreign policy ?

Reporters Without Borders today protested against the detention of six French journalists on arrival a week ago at Los Angeles international airport to cover a video games trade show and their forcible repatriation after being held at the airport for more than 24 hours.
They were subjected to interrogation sessions and six body searches. They were handcuffed while being moved from one place to another, and they were fingerprinted.

After being held for nine hours in an airport waiting room they were taken to a US immigration detention centre where they were held overnight in a cell. They were subjected to repeated body searches and interrogation. They were handcuffed when taken from one place to another, and they were fingerprinted. Finally, they were put on a flight back to France at around 6 p.m. the next day.
And what's more :They were subjected to interrogation sessions and six body searches. They were handcuffed while being moved from one place to another, and they were fingerprinted.

This was the EXACT SAME FLIGHT on which t2O, CoBraLorD and myself arrived !!! Luckily we were smart enough to write down and answer 'tourism' as our sole reason for visiting the United States. And we too arrived with a big tripod and a large camera-bag so they couldn't (or shouldn't) have missed those.Or were we just lucky to have Belgian passports ? But lets not generalise here:
- These guys were French citizens and I cannot and will not believe that all 6 of them happened to be extreme muslim fundamentalists -> in that case they wouldn't be released anyway.
- we had to take of our shoes to pass through security. And we didn't mind. But hiding a bomb up your arse ? Come on...
And journalists make their money with their jobs, not by smuggling petty amounts of drugs.
- why were they sent back ? Customs did a 'thorough' search on (and 'in') them. Did they 'find' a reason to repatriate all 6 of them ?
- why weren't the customs people 'jumpy' towards the rest of the journalists on those flights (e.g. myself and my 2 colleagues) ?
Were they 'just doing their job' ?
Come on... who are we kidding ?

Now i agree with you all theyway but we must look on bothsides of the picture. We live in america, we have freedom of choice and speech, we are a free society, and this is why people are worried about the french, and why there needs to be an investigation i hope that if there is some unfainess due for them they should get it...but now days. we need to be on our toes. becouse if we are not. well all i can say is if something happpens every one always points the finger at the goverment....we hate them..but in reality we need them.
ok enouph spouting here, all i really mean to say is for ev eryone to take a deep breath. and try not to cry wolf. Customs is doomed if they do doomed if they dont...but thats what America is. and how scandles are found out. i hope there is no more casulties from customs but like in war. it is inevitable. and right now we are in a war. wether we like to admit it or not.
