USB as memory for your 360 as of April 6th

Not necessary anymore if you've got a USB stick laying around

Major Nelson has confirmed the rumours. Soon you'll be able to use USB devices as storage medium for the Xbox360, next to the usual memory cards and harddisks from Microsoft.

Both USB harddisks as flash drives will be able to be used, as long as the storage capacity is above 1 Gigabyte. You'll need to format and partition the space for the 360, to a maximum of 16GB per USB device. Two can be attached to that you can get up to 32GB additional space at the same time. Nothing of course keeps you from having multiple devices and switch between them.

Microsoft does suggest to use flash drives as they're faster than harddisks with moving parts. The Dashboard update with support for USB is set to arrive April 6th.
