UT3 for X360 may contain fewer maps

Mark Rein, vice-president of Epic Games (Gears of War), has lauded Sony's PlayStation 3 for it's Blu-Ray drive. According to him, Blu-Ray gives developers a lot of extra legroom. Because the Xbox 360 only uses regular DVDs, Rein deems it likely the X360 port of their potential smash-hit Unreal Tournament III will contain fewer maps than on PS3.

"we may have fewer maps on the 360 version…Blu-Ray has definitely given us a lot of legroom."

He even added that later games (Unreal Tournament 4?) might even use the extra space on Blu-Ray to add mods and other community-created stuff.

"If you think down the road, well maybe the next UT beyond this one, on Blu-ray disc, we might fill the whole damn disc with all the cool stuff the mod makers make."

Seems like Sony's decision to make Blu-Ray standard on its PlayStation 3 console is finally paying off!

Yeah its was only a matter of time this would come up... Developers every time need more and more space on the discs to put everything in.

Hmm, Mark Rein is full of shit. I would have to say that the UT series is probably my all time favorite game. But I just cant stand Mark Rein, hes always been annoyingly outspoken about how much he loves BluRay and shit. Anytime he makes a statement concerning consoles he always throws in how much he loves bluray and how hes going to make love to Sony because of it. People can just download those extra maps onto their HDD. Plus anyone who's ever played UT knows that after 6 months people only play user created maps anyway.

True, but its still a pain in the ass for the 360. And UT 3 will not be the only game with this problem. It will be the first, from many (atleast I think) till the new console.
Kojima even says that they almost fill the whole BluRay disc for MGS 4 because of the movies. Maybe thats the reason why its still a PS3 exclusive, because the game doesnt fit on a dvd... But ofcourse we have to wait an see if it stays an exclusive

NOOOOO!!!! a entire Bluray disc filled with MGS4 cut scenes and shitty codec talking for hours and hours on end, didnt Hideo learn anything from MGS2 and how much everyone hated the insane long cut scenes from that, i remember one of them being 40 minutes long and i honestly fell asleep through it, fill the disc with game not cut scenes.

We all knew this Bluray and DVD disc space issue would crop up eventually so i dont see why anyone is surprised + Unreal 3 on the PS3 supports keyboard and mouse and is out way earlier so i think even without the more maps people will go for the PS3 version anyway, i would rather get the X360 version because i have a massive friends community on there and would rather play with my mates than just randoms on the PS3 but the more i hear the more i lean to the PS3 version, although Halo 3 will dwarf Unreal 3's impact massively for me.

Would be nice to get some real use out of my PS3 though.

Just wondering, but was the 40 minutes an exaggeration, or were you serious?
