Free stuff for forgiveness

A couple of Kotaku readers have reported that they've received a mail from Ubisoft Entertainment to apologise for the issues that have been plagueing the company's new DRM scheme.

Owners of the Assassins Creed 2 special edition apparently have the possibility to choose a game while those that bought the normal version are getting the special edition DLC for the game. For free of course.

For his trouble, Igor now gets to choose between four games - Prince of Persia, Heroes Over Europe, Endwar and H.A.W.X., downloading them directly to his PC without having to bother with the draconian DRM scheme of Ubi's newer titles.

A nice move from Ubisoft, but one can wonder just how great DRM is if it completely screws up the customer experience and afterwards a publisher has to spend money (games) to make up for all the trouble.
