Ubisoft goes Driving

Posted on Friday, 14 July 2006 by Speed, source: Fragland
Ubisoft has sent out an announcement that they've taken over the Driver franchise as well as most of the people from Reflections

Today, Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announces that it has concluded an agreement with Atari, Inc. and Reflections Interactive Limited to acquire the intellectual property and technology rights to Driver®, the world acclaimed franchise, as well as most of the assets and all of the personnel of Reflections Interactive Limited. The acquisition will be completed for a cash price of 19 M€

Well, that's yet another big franchise that leaves Atari. I guess they must really be in need for cash to sell this one off...

Seems like a good move to sell off the Driver-franchise, since Driver3 nearly made them go bankrupt in the first place :P

I can't believe they managed to sell copies of that shit game...

The only reason Atari still lives is because they are backed by Infogrames financially, though.

Let's hope Ubisoft knows what to do with the franchise... Driv3r was a nice attempt but fell short in lots of aspects

Yep, that's another studio that left Atari. Epic games used to be published by Atari until they signed a deal with Midway

What do you mean, they do a good job with it? Midway are just publishing UT2007, Epic is of course developing the game.
