Ubisoft wants to develop 3 new IP's a year

Jay Cohen, vice-president of Ubisoft, stated the company wants to invest in the development of new IP (Intellectual Property). This means an idea, concept or franchise.

"In fact, I think we're at three new IPs every three years. That's sort of our target."

Last year, Ubisoft created (the renewed) Rayman and Red Steel, but Assassin's Creed is already quivering.

According to Cohen it's dangerous to only trust licensed names. What if they suddenly disappear?

"For example, look at SEGA 2K Sports," he offered. "They had the NFL license, and now they don't. Boy, they're kind of screwed... That's a big hole in somebody's business plan."

The man has a point of course, but still, we can't forget Ubisoft is the publisher of everything with the name Tom Clancy: Splinter Cell, GRAW, Rainbow Six, etc...
