Valve and Vivendi split up

After a lot of problems, developer Valve Studios and publisher Vivendi have decided to part and each go their own ways.
The court case between both companies had been dragging on for quite some time already but now that a verdict has fallen, they both feel it's better not to work together anymore as of August.

"Valve has not announced a new publishing partner, or whether the company will now solely rely on Steam for distribution. A new publishing agreement would almost certainly be needed for the Xbox version of Half-Life 2 scheduled for release later this summer."

Seeing that Valve has worked with Activision for some expansions already, it wouldn't surprise me if they would step over to the US publisher. That would also be a logical step seeing that Activision is somewhat the expert publisher when it comes to first person shooters...

I'd prefer if they would go to a smaller publisher who puts quality above profit. Granted, it would be a bold move... yet a brave one !
