Valve confirms: Dota 2 in 2011

Valve has squashed all rumours and speculation by officially confirming that Dota (Defense of the Ancients in full) 2 will be released for PC next year.
DotA 2 gets its name from the Warcraft 3 mod 'Defense of the Ancients', a real time strategy-game in which two teams of five players each combat in other in fights that can last easily three quarters of an hour and are known as "very competitive".
The unique thing about the RTS is that players can build and control their own hero.
Valve has now confirmed they'll be releasing the game together with Ubisoft as an independent title. Due to the huge success of the mod, Valve decided to remove it from "mother game" Warcraft 3 so that everyone will have a chance to play it, instead of only owners of the Blizzard game.
