What the hell Valve? Ima rough you up!
A few days back, Valve Software announced the availability of Euros and Pounds Sterling for us Europeans and British. A good thing, one might think, were it not for the fact that there is no conversion going on at all. Over at their local forums there has been a wave of disgruntled gamers that found out about the $1 = €1 rule Steam apparently used.

That's right boys and girls, for this year's Christmas Santa brought you a 40% price increase for Steam titles if you are living at the wrong side of the big pond.

I've never had anything but respect for Valve. Even when they started off with steam when no one wanted a digital distribution platform and it seemed to be more of a weird copy protection I saw where they were heading and thought of it as a good thing.
But this is a MAJOR dickmove that needs rectification.

It sounds to me that Europe isn't being screwed. Valve is just starting to actually include exchange rates, something which most companies already do. A $3.50 coffee at Starbucks over here was about 2 pounds when I was in London earlier this year. After the exchange rates it was almost the same price. But if that coffee was $2 over there, I would think I was being screwed in the U.S.
