Valve encourages modscene

Create your own gear and use it in-game!
Valve Software is doing exactly opposite of what the rest of the industry seems to be doing.

In order to encourage modders to create new stuff for Team Fortress 2, the developer has launched a new website where people can contribute their stuff. If they approve of what you made, it will be added into your backpack and if they REALLY like it, it will even be cycled in random item drops.
Think you're good at making TF2 items and avatars? Better even than the people who design the game? Here's the thing: you're probably right. And believe us, this knowledge haunts us every day. Gabe Newell's just an email away, after all. What if you ratted us out?

In exchange for your silence, we are now accepting submissions for fan-designed TF2 items and avatars, immortalizing you in the Team Fortress 2 pantheon forever while keeping our jobs safe. Pending approval, your item will get added to your backpack, and cycled into the random item drops in-game. Blow up stuff using a weapon you created! Kill an enemy, then let him know he died in a hat you designed! Weapons, hats, avatars -- designed by you, used by the entire TF2 community.
Nice initiative!

TF2 has to be the most supported MP game of all time. You dont even see this much content added after release to some MMO's, let alone a 20 buck FPS. Valve really shows what matters to us gamers with this title. They just keep giving back, and now we can give them something, which in turns gives back to us as well.

Anyone reads this hasnt tried TF2 yet, you are missing out. If you shyed away cause its cartoony, you really missed out on some of the best gameplay in the FPS genre. Don't judge a book by it's cover as they say.
