In about six hours, around nine pm. CET, Valve will release a free Source SDK game. The game itself isn't a new title designed only to give a taste of the SDK. Nope! It's the Source remake of the popular Unreal Tournament 2004 mod named Alien Swarm.

Vale hired the - obviously - talented developers of the mod and gave them a clear mission: Create the ideal complete game to showcase their SDK. Whether the result is a success we will be able to find out soon enough. The available media lets us hope for the best though.

Alien Swarm is a top-down action shooter where the player(s) need to survive incoming hordes of alien enemies. The game is mainly designed to be played in (4 player) online co-op mode and it's also class based so players need to balance out their teams before taking on the encounter.
