Vampire: The Masquerade movie coming

Posted on Monday, 19 July 2004 by Speed, source: Fragland
The movie industry is getting more and more influenced by games and, according to Gamespot, the latest license to get transformed for viewing on the big white screen is Vampire: The Masquerade
Hollywood gobbled up another game franchise today--sort of. Today Variety reported that New Line Cinema has bought the film rights to Vampire: The Requiem, the sequel to White Wolf's pen-and-paper role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade. The latter game has inspired two PC role-playing games: 2000's Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, due this October. Bloodlines will use Half-Life 2's Source engine and is being developed by Troika Games.

All Vampire games are set in an Anne Rice-esque realm called "the World of Darkness," where a highly structured society of undead bloodsuckers exists alongside the human world. In the game, the vampires are divided into seven clans, each with its own abilities and powers. The game's story revolves around the clans' constant struggle for dominance and the entire vampire race's efforts to go unnoticed by humankind.
So, anyone looking forward to this one ?

The original Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption was quite good. So I'm looking forward to the sequel, not the movie. :)

I hope the sequel will be better than what we got to see at E3. The graphics (although HL2-engine) didn't look too spectacular and there were plenty of bugs.

Why not do V:TM? Nothing against V:TR, but come on! Let a bad ass director (Rodrigez or Del Toro) snatch up the Clan Novel saga. That would rule, but hey. who am I? Let Hollywood screw this one up themselves...
