Violence in games, how relaxing

Violence in games, you gotta love it. Everytime some fool starts shooting his classmates, someone will begin rambling on about how much time he spend playing violent games.

However, there are people out there who think out of the box and like to see the bigger picture. Take this psychologists for instance. She performed a study at the Middlesex University and it appears that playing World of Warcraft will leave you more relaxed than ever before.

The psychologists recruited 292 male and female online gamers, playing the game World of Warcraft. The players, aged between 12 and 83 years, were asked to complete a questionnaire on anger, aggression and personality and then played the game for two hours. After this time they were they were asked to complete the test again.

The psychologists found overall the gamers were more likely to feel calm or tired after playing – but there were differences depending on sex, age and personality.

Miss Barnett said: “There were actually higher levels of relaxation before and after playing the game as opposed to experiencing anger but this did very much depend on personality type.

“This will help us to develop a emotion and gaming questionnaire to help distinguish the type of gamer who is likely to transfer their online aggression into everyday life.”
In other words: forget those wellness clinics and relax centers. Just play a game of World of Warcraft and you will feel completely revived (slight exaggeration).

Yay! They discovered America, wow! Little kids know that playing games with achieving goals makes you happy. So if you finish a quest or two your body reacts to that in a positive manner.

How about letting them do an impossible quest for 2 hours and then rate their anger? I pitty all those who fund stupid "science" projects.

While I'm usually all for "studies" that show gaming is not bad for you, this one sounds bogus.

Also, leveling from 1-10 in 2 hours is much more relaxing then leveling at 68, where 2 hours may get you 2-4 bars of experience if your not ganked 5 times.
