Vivendi lets 350 go, Sierra closed down
Vivendi Universal Games have sent out a press release informing the world that they've sacked no less than 350 people as part of their restructuring plan to get things going again.
Apparantly, Blizzard wasn't affected by the layoffs (probably because several people there had left already ?)

"Restructuring the organization and reducing our cost base are necessary to improve our operating effectiveness and profitability," said VU Games CEO Bruce Hack. "This constitutes another important step in our turnaround plan aimed to better position the Company for growth."
Meanwhile, CNN has done an analysis to see which divisions and products did get influenced by this major move and it doesn't look pretty :The closing of the Bellevue offices mark the end of an era in the gaming world. In the early 90s, those offices were the home to one of the industry's pioneering publishers. Going under the name Sierra, developers in Bellevue created and sold top-selling franchises, such as "Kings Quest" and "Leisure Suit Larry". In 1996, the company was sold to CUC International, the first of a string of owners.
Meanwhile, also Papyrus (from the Nascar series games) and Impression Games (from Lord of the Realms 3 and Zeus) have also both been shut down.In other news:
