Posted on Friday, 9 December 2005 by Devilke, source: Games Industry
It's been a while since we last heared something about it. But the cold war between Microsoft en Sony in the field of optical media isn't over yet.
Lieberfarb, the big boss of Warner Home Video, did some particular judgements on the European Video conference:
Big words from a big man. Furthermore, he urges to support Microsoft and Toshiba as much as possible, to help the HD-DVD format break through.
Only three moviestudio's in Hollywood stand behind 'our Bill', while six other big ones follow Sony in the battle. The last word definitely isn't said!
Lieberfarb, the big boss of Warner Home Video, did some particular judgements on the European Video conference:
"We've been sucked into PlayStation versus Xbox."
Lieberfarb went on to compare Sony's strategies to those used by Samurai swordsmen, stating: "If you ever read The Art of War, you will see all of Sony's moves, including taking all its enemies in the same tent and then leaving them empty-handed. These are things that they have done historically."
"They did the same thing to Matsushita and Betamax, they did the same thing to Matsushita on compact disc, they did the same thing to Matsushita on the digital video camcorder," Lieberfarb continued.
"They compete like Samurai. It isn't the way we compete in the West."
