Wii with DVD playback next year?

Posted on Monday, 30 October 2006 by Speed, source: NeoGAF
Although Nintendo has already stated a couple of times that there will be no DVD playback for the Wii, NeoGAF has seen the rumour reappear in the latest EDGE Magazine.

Apparently, Nintendo is going to launch an "enhanced" Wii with DVD playback in Japan next year. (personally I don't think this is going to happen. Nintendo has given several statements already on why they're not interested in adding DVD capability and I don't see why they would change their opinion)

Other interesting Wii-related news is that CNN and Nintendo appear to have signed a deal whereby CNN will be delivering news content on the American and Japanese Wii News Channel.

Also, the magazine states that Nintendo wanted to sell the Wii in Europe and the US for £150 and $200 but it were the retailers that expressed concern and wanted the price to be higher.
