WiiWare extravagance in Japan
Nintendo is having a little press conference in Japan to introduce the new WiiWare service. This service will mean that whoever is willing and able to pay the start fee of 5000 dollars, may develop games for this download service for the Wii. The only restriction is the fact that Nintendo will check the technical quality (such as bugs) so consumers can be sure of a decent quality.
Nintendo will give the example with a Dr. Mario and a Pokemon game. Dr. Mario is a bit like Tetris, where you have to put medicines of the same colour together to exterminate the microbes. The Pokemon game will give you the possibility to transport your caught Pokemon from the DS games to your Wii on some kind of Poké farm. There, you will be able to raise them and take care of them.
Capcom already announced that Monster Hunter 3, the successful action series on PSP, will be released for the Wii. On the other hand, SquareEnix has opened a teaser site concerning a WiiWare game based on the Crystal Chronicles series. It is known that the game will cost 1500 WiiPoints.
Hudson is present too, with three WiiWare titles that are being developed: Star Soldier R (an arcade shooter), Joysound (a karaoke game) and a new Bomberman. Namco-Bandai has announced a WiiWare game, called Mojipittan.
The WiiWare service will be launched in Japan in March 2008. We will bring you more information about the press conference as soon as the translators did their job!
