Will Microsoft pursue Sony?

Earlier today we could inform you about a more than welcome price cut for the PlayStation 3, now we can tell you that the Xbox 360 may be following.
At least, that's what industry analyst Michael Pachter thinks of the case. He thinks the Elite-version will drop 80$ and the Premium- and Core-versions will drop 50$ in price. It's still not sure wether this will be confirmed, I wonder on what these analysts base their numbers.
Anyhow, it seems quite logical that Microsoft will defend her console, certainly with the holidays coming up.
