WoW gold farmers get a warning

Posted on Monday, 31 January 2011 by Speed, source: joystiq
Blizzard Entertainment has put a big step in getting rid of the gold farmers and sellers in their MMO World of Warcraft.

They've convinced Paypal to send messages to the most active salesmen to stop trading the virtual money of Blizzard. If they don't comply their accounts will be immediately blocked and closed. Soemthing that wouldn't be too healthy for the sales revenue.

With this Paypal seems to agree with the publisher's statement that this is a breach of intellectual property right, even if it remains a controversial stance.

If the makers of the most popular MMO in the world are succesful with this move, you'll soon have to virtually work for your gold coins!

If Blizzard really cared, they would just shut those accounts down.

Or they we take companies to court and try to persuade companies as big as Paypal to stop all payments to those trading gold in WoW.

Do you honestly believe that gold farming, gold selling and hacked accounts are beneficial to Blizzard?

You both are morons who don't do your homework.

Blizzard already has taken two different companies to court and won. That doesn't stop new ones popping up left and right.

Gold sites, HACK legitimate accounts to get their gold. It isn't as simple as just *closing them down* as mr wonder boy above says.

This is a good step, but still won't solve the problem.

Blizzard last took a gold seller to court in 2007, that's nearly 4 years ago. Actually that was the last time they took a stance against gold sellers and the length of time makes it null and void. You would know all of this of course, if you had done your homework, but don't worry, I wont lower myself to your level and call you a moron.
