World in Conflict closed beta underway

Massive and Vivendi/Universal have started the closed beta of World in Conflict this week and you're invited.

You can obtain a key from GameSpot by just being a registered user there (it costs nothing). Don't mind the US-only remark there, somebody forgot to remove that. They have 15.000 keys available since Friday evening so there still something left I guess.

The download (1,8 GB) is available at Gamespot too or from other (faster) locations which you have to look up yourself.

These are the system specs for the beta:

OS: Windows® XP, Vista® (32-bit)
CPU: Single-core 2.5 Ghz or faster (2.8 Ghz for Vista)
CPU: Dual-core Any Intel® or AMD®
Graphics: 128 MB video RAM, DirectX 9.0c compatible (GeForce® 4 MX, Radeon® 8500, 9200 not supported)
RAM: 1 GB (1.5 GB for Vista®)
2.0 GB available hard drive space
Internet connection - Cable/DSL
DirectX® 9.0c

Please note that this is a very early work-in-progress build of World in Conflict. It is not yet optimized
and the minimum system requirements will be decreased considerably in the final version of the game.

The closed beta test will last until June 19th and has a strict NDA (no screenshots or game reports should be posted on other boards than the official beta boards).

Is it worth the download? If you like Battlefield 2 in RTS-style, with gorgeous graphics and a great online browser then yes, this really is worth it. It is made Swedes too if that excites you...
