World in Conflict open beta registrations

Intel got a nice registration page up and running for the Open Multiplayer Beta of World in Conflict, the RTS with something of a Battlefield 2 twist attached to it.

There are apparently a million beta keys available and you can register until the open beta ends (on 31 July). The beta begins on July 11th and you will be able to download the client on July 9th. Not all countries are listed on the registration page (Belgium doesn't exist?) but it doesn't seem to be such a hassle to fill in another country of your choice.

Registration begins on 1 July and will be open until the end of the open beta phase. The open beta will begin on 11 July and will last until 31 July. You will be able to download the open beta client using a BitTorrent client of your choice beginning on 9 July. More details on how to download the open beta client will be provided to you by email after you have finalised the registration process using a valid email address.

Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows® XP, Windows Vista™
CPU: 2.0 GHz or faster (2.2 GHz for Windows Vista™)
RAM: 512 MB (1 GB for Windows Vista™)
Disc Drive: DVD
Hard Drive: 9 GB or more free space
Video: 128 MB video RAM, DirectX® 9.0c-compatible
Sound: DirectX® 9.0c-compatible Input: Keyboard and mouse
Internet Play: Cable, DSL or better Note: ATI® Radeon® 8500, 9200 and NVIDIA® GeForce® 4 MX not supported.

¹ You must be over the age of 13 in order to play the World in Conflict Open Beta.

If the open beta still has all the goodness of the closed beta then we suggest you register asap, this game can a real blast as it's not just another typical RTS.

So you MUST have vista, so why does it say you need 2.2Ghz for Vista?

Whats the 2.0Ghz for?

no they're saying you need Windows xp OR Windows Vista, both will work :)

on Windows XP you need a 2.0 Ghz Minimum, if you're going to play beta on Windows Vista you'll need a 2.2 GHz because the OS is heavier.

Yep, but if a minimum requirement is vista, then surely XP would be considered below minimum ;)

No. It's not Vista that is the minimum requirement, it's a 2.2 GHz processor IF running Vista. Otherwise you can go lower.

Haven't you heard? Playing the same games on Vista takes more resources because the OS itself siphons half of them off. And they call this a gaming platform...my ass.

Anonymous, you are an idiot. the driver support is not as good, and the simple fact is the specs are higher for vista due to its heavier nature

I think that you'v just read the requirements and not really read it that well, if you look it says XP COMA Vista, either, doesn't matter, but vista will take up more system resources and so the game will play a bit worse

I see where he's coming from, he means why did it even mention Vista since XP is lower and they need only mention the minimum (XP). i.e. why didn't they say:

CPU: 2.0 GHz, 2.1 GHz, 2.2 GHz, 2.3 GHz, 2.4 GHz etc.

As it is obvious that it is unnecessary to put any higher than the minimum.

Vista is a game platform because it supports dx10. Highest for xp is 9.0c i think.
