X360 has a one million lead on PS3

According to GfK Chart-Track data, Microsoft's Xbox360 has a one million sales lead in five key countries in Europe. This is quite in contrast with Sony Europe president David Reeves' statement earlier that in PAL countries the PS3 has a 300.000 units lead.

The installed base totals suggest that Sony is catching up on Microsoft, which launched Xbox 360 over a year earlier than PS3.

But following a price cut in September, Microsoft's figures have jumped and the platform holder can be confident of holding its lead into the New Year.

Of course, "PAL countries" does include others than those listed in the Chart-Track data but it would be strange to see the PS3 selling 1.300.000 units more than the X360 in the rest of PAL territories. Unless the Aussies haven't bought a single X360 of course and you never know with those guys "down under" ;)
