X360 price drop not for Europe
Gamespot received word from Microsoft that there will be no price cut for the Xbox360 in Europe despite the US getting the system now for $50 less than before
However, things may be not as simple as you would imagine. The guys over at Arstechnica have received word from "an inside source" that the US price drop is actually a way for Microsoft to clear stock in order to launch an updated version of their console with HDMi included
However, if Microsoft wants to clear stock, why not lower prices everywhere? Why only in the US?
As usual: we Europeans are getting screwed!
"This announcement was specifically around pricing in the US. We have not announced any pricing changes in Europe."

According to my source, Microsoft wants to cut through all their existing inventory of hardware. They will then quietly "soft launch" a new version of the Core and Premium hardware in late August or September that will include an HDMI port. It's also expected that this new hardware will feature the 65nm process for the CPU and quieter DVD drives. The new hardware will ship in boxes very similar to what we saw on store shelves now, but there will be a small "call out" on the box so you know you're getting a system with the HDMI connection.
