X360 price drop official

Posted on Tuesday, 7 August 2007 by Speed, source: Gamespot
We've had lots of rumours floating around for quite some time already, but Microsoft has finally made it official: the Xbox360 will have a price drop over the entire product line

Starting August 8, the Xbox 360 Premium bundle (apparently now referred to simply as the Xbox 360 in the company's vernacular) will retail for $349.99. The Xbox 360 Core system will sell for $279.99, and the Elite package will sell for $449.99.

September will also see the arrival of a Halo 3 Special Edition X360 with an HDMI-capable system, a wireless controller, a headset, a 20GB hard drive, and a play-and-charge kit. Halo 3 itself will have to be bought seperately though (which is kinda stupid seeing that it's a "Halo 3 Special Edition X360")

1 small detail: this price drop is only official for the US. No word whether other countries will have it as well

And there I was, getting hopeful and thinking "Finally! A console with good games that I can afford".

After the announcement of Quake Wars being released earlier in Europe than US, Microsoft decided we had already too many good things in the world of gaming.

I don't blame the companies, I blame Europe and the way business has to work here to survive.

I don't know much about European business policies but what is it that would have this effect, the taxes?

Taxes, import tarrifs, lower productivity than US by 20%, less work hours for more pay. In fact, countries like France even have a legal limit over which you're not allowed to work, there its 38 hours.

Basically, doing business in Europe is a pain in the ass, so they have to hike up the prices. And if they manufacture or do any of the stuff outside of the EU, then rest assured they'll pay import tarrifs that will make sure they'll regret ever stepping on this continent.

Yea I've heard about that France restriction. Working 40 hours or more really isn't that bad...

For the summer I work about 45-55 hours a week and make a killing with overtime. Sure its not easy, but its definetly worth it if your company pays you decently.

I worked 12 hours today, normally I don't but it still wasn't that bad.

In any case, it's absolutely the right of every citizen to make their own decision regarding working overtime. The government shouldn't be allowed to control or limit that, tbh.
