X360 workers threatened to commit mass suicide?
Unconfirmed reports have disclosed that workers at the Foxconn factory that produces Xbox 360 consoles for Microsoft have threatened with committing mass suicide.
300 workers at the Chinese Foxconn Technology Park in Wuhan supposedly threatened to jump off the roof of the building last week following a payment dispute. Apparently the employees asked for a pay rise on January 2nd and were answered they could keep their job at the same sallary, or leave with compensation.
A Microsoft spokesperson could not confirm the report nor that the factory in question is producing Xbox 360 consoles. The representative did say the company has started an investigation into the matter:
According to Wired back in March last year, 17 employees of Foxconn had killed themselves in the last five years. A report by the Students & Scholars Against Corporate Misbehaviour in May last year revealed also that working conditions at Foxconn are less than stellar:
