Xbox 360 gets price cut in US on friday

Posted on Thursday, 4 September 2008 by daffeh, source: Shacknews
After weeks of specualtion, Microsoft Studios finally came through and made the price cut official. Larry Hryb confirmed the prices that had been leaked by retailers before:
  • Xbox 360 Arcade (No Hard Drive): $199, down from $279
  • Xbox 360 Pro (60GB HDD): $299, down from $350
  • Xbox 360 Elite (120GB HDD): $399, down from $449
Sony's Playstation 3 will not get an official price cut anytime soon but rest assure they will try to retaliate in this ongoing guerilla that is the console-war.

They are all but giving them away for free at this point and it's getting harder and harder for me to resist buying one if Microsoft ever decides to cut the prices in Europe too.

Microsoft Japan is already actually paying people to take the machines, with little success."We hope more people will be able to enjoy Xbox 360," said marketing marketer Takashi Sensui, "and we can stop enjoying quite so many of them. We also have this fine pile of HD-DVD drives ... Wait! Come back!" notnews.today.com/?p=63
