Xbox 360 price-cut official, what's up with the arcade?

Good news for us EMEA people as coming friday, the Xbox 360 Elite will drop fifty Euros and cost only €249. At the same time the EMEA zone gets screwed as the Arcade version gets its price raised to €199 while in the US it stays at $199.

After weeks of speculating how Microsoft would counter the PS3 Slim and its price-cut, information leaks and even various spottings in the wild they finally made official what everybody already knew: the Xbox 360 is now officially 'the cheaper one' again. Don't shoot my head off for this Playstation lovers and slightly extremist fanboys, I know about the Wi-Fi and the Blu Ray. You can't argue with a price-point (even though some of you have tried for sure) and if it was the PS3 that had the lower price, I would report that too.

According to C&V Microsoft did use a trick that was still somewhere up their sleeve because apparently, they are no longer shipping an HDMI cable with the box.

On a slightly sad note, today is also the day that Microsoft officially murdered the Pro model. In the US you can still get this one for $249 until the stock runs out. Over on the side of the big pond, you might want to look for that last Pro at around €199 but I don't like your chances.

Here's a list for those of you with a small attention span.
  • Elite €249 or $299
  • Pro $249
  • Arcade €199 or $199
