After the price cuts in the US on September 5th and the following success, Microsoft has announced the same good news for the Old Continent. With this decision, part of the bigger plan to make high-definition gaming accessible to everyone, the 360 really comes into the 'we-are-all-but-giving-them-away' zone.
For those still doubting what to get for Christmas (or their birthday in my case) and still lacking some Xbox 360 sweetness in the living room: Look no further!

As of next friday, this will be the pricing in Europe:
  • Arcade: from €199.99 to €179.99
  • Pro: from €269.99 to €239.99
  • Elite: from €299.99 to €369.99.
The cheery announcement quote:
"We're proud to be expanding the reach of Xbox as the first next-generation console to break the EUR 200 / GBP 150 barrier, making the platform up to EUR 200 / GBP 170 less expensive than competitors," said European Xboxman Chris Lewis.

"History shows that the majority of console sales happen after this price point has been breached, and we're well positioned to take advantage of this mass market pricing."
For the Netherlands and Belgium, there is also a special cashback action that will take the price down even lower with the Arcace dropping another €30, the Pro down another €40 and making the Elite cost €249,99 until December 31st.

Combine this with the upcoming revamp of the 360 interface, the great on-line service that is Live and some killer games still due before the end of the year and you've got yourself a winner. That is, until Sony and Nintendo strike back so that we can restart from scratch.
