Xbox Live Marketplace for Windows
Microsoft said that they want to bring some sort of Xbox Live Marketplace to Windows. That way they could offer digital content to all Live users.
Uangst also admitted that Games for Windows Live wasn't really a great success upon it's introduction. For instance, many gamers thought they had to pay to get a Gold subscription (like it is on Xbox) but that's not true. You only have to 'insert coins' if you want to play cross-platform, so it doesn't cost you anything to play against other PC gamers.
"You can be confident we want to enable things like digital distribution, the ability to do downloadable content for games - that's a direction we're definitely headed in," GfW senior global director Kevin Unangst told [...]
Unangst said Microsoft would "continue to invest" in Games for Windows, which apart from giving its games an Xbox Live-style service layer with friends lists, Achievements and the like, also insists that games be easy to install, support widescreen displays and include parental controls.
It's nice that Microsoft wants to keep on promoting and supporting Games for Windows. Some of the things they will do is better integration of Achievements and Friends, make games install smoother and add widescreen support and parental control.In other news:
