Microsoft yesterday confirmed their plans for creating an Ipod-killer. The device and its software will be called Zune and should be released later this year.

Two weeks ago Microsoft refused to confirm any rumors about the company creating a handheld in a development project called 'Argo'.

Here you can see a picture of what the device could look like, according to the people of Endgadget

Zune? Sounds like the MTV-version of the word "Tune". Silly as hell. Then again I will never support Apple because of their insidious DRM-schemes.

zemnla, in case you didn't notice that strategy is working for MS. Aren't they one of the largest software companies global? Or the largest?

And who the fuck cares about portable music players really, they all suck!

Yeah it's working... but it's hardly new.

Portable music players tbh are one of the greatest things since sliced bread. Can't imagine sitting on the train listening to the sound of the wheels rolling :)

Microsoft was actually planning to put out something like this, with a program like itunes, about a year before ipods came out. They decided that the market wasn't ready, not enough people with broadband, people wouldn't pay for the music, that sort of thing. Then Ipods came out, and, you know the rest.
