While everyone expected that with the departure of their studio heads, the guys at Infinity Ward would be leaving en masse as well. Which they didn't. And Kotaku has heard why.

According to several sources, Activision - Blizzard still needs to pay the developers quite some royalties and have neglected to do so still. That way they can be sure that the developers remain on board as if they leave, they lose all rights to royalties. And seeing that Infinity Ward generally pays low to normal wages and makes up a lot with huge royalty payments, it's a great way to make sure they're staying.

However, according to those same sources, moral is at an all-time low at the studio:
Of course this is only a rumour at the moment so take it with a (small) grain of salt but I've seen companies do similar things in the past so wouldn't be surprised if it's true.
