Spore will change our perception of games, dixit Will Wright

Posted on Friday, 5 September 2008 by daffeh, source: BBC
On par with the release of this long anticipated game in Europe, Spore's creator Will Wright made some rather bold statements about his spiritual child when interviewed by the BBC.
"Spore will change the way people look at games forever and change hopefully the perception people have of their own creativity."
He is also promoting the game as an explorer for the inner creativity of the player.
"Spore is bringing creativity to the masses where you as a consumer watch something on TV and say I can do something better than that, I can make a better space ship than that and you go on Spore and you can make something very compelling and even better in terms of design and scope,"

By now everybody knows that Electronic Arts is counting on this game to become a major next hit after The Sims and that is made clear by them seeing this as something more than just a game.
"We think of Spore as a brand and not just a product."

Probably will be the next major hit. Kudos to Will Wright for bringing innovation and creativity to all his projects.

Many of the people who got it "early" are saying its not really that great. I'll probably still pick it up, just not on opening day. It'll be a real shame if after all these years of hyping the game it wasn't that good.

As all other great games, it will be addictive for the first few days then amuzing for the next weeks then boring rest of the way. Sim city on wheels is still sim city. It will retain some of its audience, like CIV series and thats it.
